Colorado-ish – Day 6

May 27, 2024

Today was a pretty sad day. I woke up at 4:30am to take the bus to the airport. I almost MISSED the bus because I was waiting at the train station, conveniently named the same as the bus station. Fortunately the bus driver saw me and waited for me to board.

Day of travel

After taking the bus I had to take the train, which was an easy transfer. Unfortunately I got off the stop too early, and some lady was trying to tell me that this wasn’t my stop but I panicked and ran off the train anyway. This ended up working out because I was able to Uber to the exact terminal I wanted. If I got off the train correctly, I would’ve had to walk 20 minutes to from the train stop. I’m justifying this by the fact I saved 15 minutes of time.

I got checked in, got to check my bag for FREE (yayyy!), and sooner than later I was boarding the first plane from Denver to SFO. Nothing eventful really so fast forward to my 16 hour flight from SFO to Singapore.

As soon as I checked my boarding pass before this flight I was dreading it. One thing about me is I prefer to fly on the rightmost side of the plane, but when I looked at my seat number, it was 56 “K”! K? K is the middle seat! That’s the worst case scenario. Not only would I disturb seat J when I needed to pee, but I would disturb seat L if I accidentally, naturally, sleep leaning on my right.

However, I should’ve known better. Even though I was seat K, I still had the rightmost seat, but even better… You see the way the airplane tapered when it got to my seat, it only had capacity to have 2 chairs in my section, not the usual 3. So rather than having a seat to my right, I had extra leg room! This was fantastic, and soo useful.

The rest of my flight was pretty chill. It was a long flight and it dragged on a long time. My seat mate was a very nice gentleman. He was going to Singapore for work. What was neat was I found out he was actually from San Diego! When he said that I told him, “cool, I’m going their next year for school,” to which he replied, “I have two sons there!” Turns out his older son is enrolled in a 5 year mechanical engineering program, where after 5 years, you get your masters. That’s the exact program I’m hoping to get into! Anyways I thought it was quite neat, he was very nice although I don’t remember asking for his name.
