Singapore – Day 1

May 28th, 2024

Okay technically this is a new day, but I leave off from landing at the Singapore Airport. Unfortunately I was so worried about checking in on time, I didn’t explore the airport. I hope to do that when I leave. I think as soon as I check out of my hostel, I will go spend the day there. It was the nicest airport in the world for the past decade, until recently when Dubai took its first place.

Anyways. Getting through customs was sooo easy. I filled out the ICA thing which is basically a form to fill out in order to get into the country. Pretty straight forward. I took a taxi to my hostel. My cab driver was super nice, we had a conversation in Chinese!

Once I got to the hostel I was a bit lost. I didn’t have the check-in information because I had no service, but once I found a spot with service, it was easy-peasy.

Near my hostel

Once I checked-in, I decided to go for a little nighttime stroll, to explore what was around. It was super nice. Greenery everywhere, water fountains are quite common. On the plane though, I read jay-walking was illegal. That really scared me. That night I only walked on crosswalks. Sometimes, when there were not crosswalks, I would walk down the street just to cross, and walk back down to where I was. I swore to myself they would never find me jay-walking. I later realized that you didn’t need a crosswalk to cross the street. Sigh.

Room Tour!

Another thing to note. Singapore is HOT and HUMID. I was sweating buckets, even from only being outside for not too long. And you may think, oh, would a nice cold refreshing shower fix this? No. No it doesn’t. I mean momentarily yes, but once you try to dry yourself, you are in a perpetually wet state of mind and it takes some getting used to. Anyways, I took my shower, and went off to bed.
